Felix Mavec, born August 12, 1933 in Slovenia, a longtime resident of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2013 after suffering from a stroke. He was surrounded by family who loved him. Felix lived a life of love, integrity, faith, and service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Mavec; four children Sonja (Donald) DePratt, Tom (Sue) Mavec, Sandy (Paul) Artusa and Marko (Tina) Mavec; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one brother Albert (Paula) Mavec and one sister Ida (late Dujo) Babic; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Felix worked at Caterpillar Company and retired after 41 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet and was involved in the Slovenian Cultural Center in Lemont, IL. Felix loved God, argued politics and gave passionate care to his family. He was a blessing to all who knew him and was blessed with a beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers donations in FelixA�??s name may be made to St. JosephA�??s Catholic League Slovenian Missions.
The funeral services for Felix will begin on Monday, April 22, 2013 with a lie-in-state period from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. There will be no services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
