Age 74. Zeke was born in Joliet, IL on May 24, 1932 and passed away at home January 27, 2007.

Zeke was preceded by his parents, Otilio and Julia Gutierrez, brother Rosario and sisters Julia and Dolores.

He is survived by wife Dolores (Tafoya) and son Ricardo, brother Steven T. of California, sisters Agnes Briones of Channahon and Jessie (Michael) Mejia of Crest Hill and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He attended Joliet Township High School where he participated in basketball and wrestling and graduated in 1952. He entered the army and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954. Upon discharge he worked for Bob Saieg's Sinclair Station at Collins and Columbia Streets. He began work for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1954 and retired in 1987. On July 2, 1955 he married Dolores Tafoya. After retirement he continued to work in the heating and air conditioning field and taught these trades at Joliet Jr. College and WILCO Vocational School.

Zeke loved Mexico, mariachis, marlin, maracas and menudo. He was an avid deep-sea fisherman, duck hunter, Chicago Bears and White Sox fan and connoisseur of Mexican dining. Taqueria Atotonilco in Little Village will not be the same without him.

He hosted many fishing and deer hunting trips with his peers from Caterpillar.

He was proud of Chicago Bears Championships in 1963 and 1985, saw the All-Star game at Chicago's Comiskey Park in July 2003, the opening of New Soldier Field in September 2003 and Game #2 of the 2005 World Series at Comisky Park.

A celebration of this man's life will be held Thursday at 10:am at the funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Maher officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8:pm and Wednesday from 2 to 8:00 pm.
