Eugene Slaboszewski

Age 73, of Joliet, at rest suddenly Thursday, May 8, 2008. Gene was born in Joliet, IL on February 24, 1935.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Denise Boudreau and Kathy (Steve) Scent; his parents John and Elizabeth Slaboszewski; his brothers Don (Rita) and Jack and his sister Diane (Bill) Madigan; many nieces and nephews; caring friends and special neighbors.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife Sandy (nee Braddy, 1980), whom he dearly missed and their twin babies, Jacqueline and Eugene (1957).

Gene was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Church in Joliet, where he served as a member of the choir for many years. He was a proud and active member of the Moran Athletic Club, a loyal employee and past officer, as well as a member of the Northwest Recreation Club. He worked for A & P as a store manager, then retired in 2003 from Don's Body shop after 27 years as an auto technician. After retirement he enjoyed time with friends, family, special neighbors and of course, his pets! Gene was an avid fan of reading, fishing, NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, boating, motorcycle riding and snowmobiling. His greatest joy was the company of other people, most notably the treasured Sunday visits with his daughter Kathy. Gene truly enjoyed life and will be dearly missed.

From where services for Eugene Slaboszewski will be held Wed. May 14, 2008 at 9:30 AM to Holy Cross Church, 828 Elizabeth Street in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13 from 3 to 8 pm.
