Gene was born April 10, 1928 in Buckingham, IL and grew up in Lockport. He served his country with the U.S. Coast Guard. After retirement he enjoyed being a ranger at Wedgewood Golf Course. He was a fixture for many years at local bowling alleys and golf courses. Gene also enjoyed traveling with Bernie and taking golf trips with his buddies.
He could be seen following his grandchildren's activities in the stands at local sporting events. He was so proud to travel to Minnesota to see Joe in his Big League debut.
His family will forever remember his antics and fond memories of all the Grandpa and Pop Pop stories.
He was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan and could be heard yelling at the T.V. for miles. Maybe now his Cubbies could win with his divine intervention.
His family would like to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for the loving care and compassion shown to Gene in his last days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
