Eugene E. Martin Sr

Eugene E. Martin Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2015 with his loving family by his side.

Eugene is survived by his loving children, Barbara (Andrew) Birsa, Paula Martin Imerman, and Eugene E. Jr. (Cynthia) Martin; grandchildren, Susan (Jason) Swanson, Michelle (Thomas) Snyder, Andrew Jr. (Molly) Birsa, Nicole (Daniel) Koopmann and Scott Schimanski, Nicholas Imerman, Aaron Martin, Heather (Curtis) Cwudzinski and Kyle Martin; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick (Mary Rose) Martin; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife, Pauline K. Martin (nee Lewek); granddaughter, Sandra Schimanski; grandson in infancy, Jeffrey Martin; parents, Henry and Stella (nee Kamitch) Martin; siblings, Henry (Billie) Martin, Loretta "Dolly" (Leo) Wortman, Raymond Martin and twins in infancy, Adam and Robert.

Eugene was a lifelong resident of Joliet and was a United States Navy Veteran. He was an accountant and purchasing agent for many years. Eugene loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, gardening, polka music and Chicago Sports. He also enjoyed coaching Ingalls Park Pony Baseball for a number of years. Eugene was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him.

The family offers a special thank-you to all the loving people who cared for dad over the past years.

A celebration of Eugene's life will begin on Thursday, August 13, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. then driving in procession to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4-8 p.m.
