Ernest T. Hicks, age 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Shirley (nee Plese) Hicks; loving children, Doug (Nicole) Hicks, Janet Guerrero and Julie (Justin) Masterman; grandchildren, Trevor and Emily Hicks, Roy Guerrero, Mae and Grace Masterman; siblings, Russell Hicks, Evan (Susan) Hicks, Jamison (Lisa) Hicks and Mayrose Harner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Elaine Hicks.
Ernie grew up in Stevensville, MI and resided in Minooka, IL. He graduated from Lake Shore High School and later went on to Western Michigan University earning his Bachelor’s Degree as well as St. Francis University earning his Master’s Degree. Ernie retired after 40 years of dedication from PPG as a North American Sales Operations Manager. He was a member of the Minooka Lions Club and the Croatian Culture Club. After retiring in May, Ernie worked at his “dream job” at the Heritage Bluff’s Public Golf Club in Channahon. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and Boston Red Sox fan. Ernie was a devoted Christian and family man. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Ernie will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Donations in Ernest’s name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will begin on Saturday, December 1, 2018 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. on December 1, 2018. Per Ernie’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
