Emil P. Sefcik

Emil P. Sefcik, age 87, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 30, 2012 with his loving family by his side.

Survived by his loving wife Gloria (nee Fietterer) of 65 years; his two children Nancy (Joseph) Rice, and Kenneth (Kathleen) Sefcik; three grandchildren Stacey (Nathan) Schmidt, Tiffany (Mark) Miller, Allison Kay Sefcik; four great-grandchildren Ryan, Jackson, Kelsey and Agatha; one sister Josephine (John) Olivero; two brothers Seddy (Frances) Sefcik and Donald (Kathleen) Sefcik; one sister-in-law Lorraine (late Fred) Boseo; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Nellie (nee Wojtasak) Sefcik; two sisters Pauline (Ennis) Ryan and Agnes (William) Pappas; two brothers Paul (Agnes) and Huck Sefcik; one great-granddaughter Alaina Renee Schmidt; and two nephews Thomas Ryan and William Boseo.

Emil retired from U.S. Steel Corp. after 33 years of service and worked for an additional 20 years at the Joliet Car Wash. He was a United States Navy veteran and served during World War II on the U.S.S. Saratoga in the Pacific Theater; and was a member of the American Legion. He attended St. AnthonyA�??s Catholic Church in Joliet. Emil will be remembered as a man of great faith, strength and integrity, whose main focus was on his loving family. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working and had the uncanny ability to fix almost anything.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in EmilA�??s name to Home Bound Healthcare Hospice, 14216 McCarthy Road, Lemont Il, 60439, the AlzheimerA�??s Association of Joliet, or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Emil P. SefcikA�??s life will begin on Thursday October 4, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home chapel then moving in procession to St. Anthony Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
