Elvira "Vira" M. (Hernandez) Ibarra

January 28, 1933 — July 2, 2016

Elvira “Vira” M. Ibarra (nee Hernandez), age 83, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Vira is survived by her loving daughter, Virginia Reyna (Eugene Jr.) Luna; cherished grandchildren, Richard (Belinda Pemble) Luna Sr., Valerie (Abel) Melendez, Valentina Luna, Valinda Luna, and Eugenio (Vanessa Contreras) Luna III; great grandchildren, Veronica, Richard Jr., Geno, and Nikko Luna, Joe III, Lisette, Angelica, and Eliazar Salazar, Jocelyn Reyes, Giselle Guerrero, Ava and Analyse Melendez, Claudia, Aliyah, and Gabriella; great-great grandchildren, Michael and Anthony Venegas, Izaiah Salazar, and Christopher Luna; dear sister, Eudelia (Lel) Asa; dear brother, George (Mary Jane) Hernandez Sr.; dear sisters-in-law, Lupe (the late Anthony Vincent) and Danna (the late Anthony Paul) Hernandez.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Rudolph Ibarra; parents, Epifanio and Felicia (nee Rodriguez) Hernandez; brothers, Raymond, Salvador, Anthony Vincent, and Anthony Paul Hernandez; sisters, Candelaria and Catherine Hernandez; loving niece, Elvira Guzman.

Vira was employed by the Secretary of State’s office for 24 years. Some of her hobbies included crocheting, dancing, BINGO, and an occasional trip to the casino. She loved her family…especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She cherished family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Donations in Vira’s name to Sunny Hill Nursing Home, 421 Doris Ave, Joliet, IL 60433 would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Silver Cross Hospital 6th Floor, and Joliet Area Community Hospice for the outstanding care provided.

A Celebration of Vira’s life will begin on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet.
