Elizabeth C. Sowa

Age 92, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at Salem Village. Born in Gregory, SD and lived in Joliet most of her life. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. (1973).

Survived by two daughters, Antoinette (William) Brouillard of New Jersey and Betty Jo (Gregory) Chaplin of Plainfield, IL; and son, Joseph R. (Marilyn) of Virginia; grandmother of John, Jill and Jennifer Chaplin, and Tara (Cory) Brooking, and Justin Sowa; great-grandmother of Hannah Rae, Kaelyn Maree, and Ryleigh Alexandra Brooking; loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gorgos, and Jacob and Louisa Cahoy; sister, Tillie (Roman) Coash; nephew, Harold Coash; brothers, George (Louise), Martin (Bernice), William, Adolph (Antonette), and Fred (Wyvone) Cahoy; also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Condon) Sowa; and two grandsons, Anthony and Michael Sowa (1967).

President of Golden Agers of New Lenox, member of New Lenox Happy Hour Club, Mokena Seniors, and First Ladies Slovak Association.

Pisut Funeral Home in charge of arrangements at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL, (815) 722-0524. From where services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 9:30 AM to St. Mary Magdalene, 127 S. Briggs. St., Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM.
