Elizabeth M. (Avsec) Picco
January 28, 1931 — December 24, 2016
Elizabeth M. “Betty” Picco (nee Avsec), entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Elizabeth is survived by her children: Elizabeth Jean, Perry Jr. (Okie), Louis (Melinda), Michael (Rima), Robert (Magda), and Ronald (Tiffani) Picco; “Daughter number two” Gloria Salinas; cherished grandchildren, Tim, Allison, Brittany, Tony, Ginella, Matthew, Sophia, and Alex Picco; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Haley, Maddelyn, Rowan, Henry, Aurora and Rudy; dear sisters Geri (the late Jim) Thayer and Jean (the late Jim) Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Perry “Blackie” Picco Sr.; infants daughter Linda Marie and granddaughter Mary Kathleen; parents, Louis and Mary (nee Bozich) Avsec; brother, Louis, Jr. and sister, Viola.
Betty was a longtime resident of Joliet and a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Joliet. As a volunteer, she devoted time to St. Joseph School library, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Our Lady of Angels Auxiliary, and the Morton Arboretum.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will begin on Friday, December 30, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:10 AM, then driving in procession to St. Joseph Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
