Eleanor Salman (nee Glenn)
Age 93 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 26, 2021 with her loving family by her side.
Born November 24, 1927 in Verona, Illinois, Eleanor Marie was the daughter of Lloyd and Helen (Onderisin) Glenn. She was raised and educated in Joliet and worked at a number of different jobs which included: Star Peerless Wallpaper, Gerlach Barklow, Marshall Fields and Plainfield Grade School and High School as a “Lunch Lady”. In 1946 Eleanor married her true love, Richard Salman and in 1959 they moved to Plainfield where they made their home and raised their family. Taking care of her family was her main priority. Eleanor was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She lived a full life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1994; parents: Lloyd and Helen, and brother and sister-in-law: Norman and Kathleen Glenn.
She is survived by her loving children: Linda (Gary) Bostjancic, Donna (Steve) Ties and Debra (Gene) Coldwater; seven grandchildren: Brian (Mya) Ties, Kristine Ties, Holly Helgeson, Brandy (Nick) Weiss, Lisa (Steve) Miller, Matthew Coldwater and Adrienne (Jeff) Page; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 Illinois Route 59 in Plainfield. A private interment will be held following mass, and Eleanor will be laid to rest next to her husband Richard at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
