Edward Joseph Vasquez Sr., age 71, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his beloved family on December 12, 2023. He was surrounded by the warmth and love of those closest to him during his final moments.
Born on September 27, 1952, Edward led a remarkable life filled with love, adventure, and hard work. He was a dedicated Teamster #710 car hauler, demonstrating strong commitment to his profession throughout his many years of service. Edward took great pride in his work and carried out his duties with unwavering dedication and professionalism.
Edward's passion for serving extended beyond his profession; he also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. His time in the military instilled within him a sense of discipline, honor, and loyalty that he carried with him throughout his life. Edward's patriotism and bravery were revered by all who knew him.
Outside of work and military service, Edward embraced a number of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. One could often find him riding his Harley through the open roads with the HOG Motorcycle Club or casting lines into peaceful waters while fishing. His love for camping allowed him to connect with nature's tranquility, finding solace in its beauty. Additionally, Edward enjoyed participating in motorcycle runs alongside fellow enthusiasts who shared his passion for adventure on two wheels.
However, above all else, Edward cherished spending time with his family and friends. He valued every moment shared with them, collected memories like precious treasures, and dedicated himself to creating lasting bonds of love and friendship. The light he brought into their lives will continue to shine brightly in their hearts forever.
Edward is survived by his devoted wife Pat, who stood beside him through thick and thin; his loving daughter Tracy; and his son Eddie Jr. (Idalia), who wholeheartedly supported their father's endeavors throughout the years. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his granddaughters Kristen, Nicole, Alani, Aila, Avrianna, Akirah, Axenia, and Axzyla. He is also survived by his brother Carlos and sister Ruby, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by his father Carl, mother Dolores, mother-in-law Hettie, daughter Geri, brother Richard, sister Dolores, sister-in-law Betty, brother-in-law Jerry and sister-in-law Dolores.
Throughout his life journey, Edward J. Vasquez Sr. touched the lives of so many with his kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. He approached each day with a zest for life that inspired all those fortunate enough to know him. His infectious smile and genuine warmth could brighten the darkest of days.
In honoring Edward's memory, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and carry on his legacy of love and dedication. May we find comfort in the memories we shared and draw strength from the profound impact he had on our hearts.

A celebration of Edward’s life will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 12:30 p.m.
