Edward H. Strmec

Age 86, at rest on July 29, 2007 at Silver Cross Hospital.
Survived by his brother Joseph (late Lorraine) Strmec; sister Dorothy (late Joseph) Vombrack; and special friend Mary Sandretti. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Anton and Barbara (nee Muc) Strmec; one brother Anton Jr. Strmec; and one sister Mary O'Connell.
Edward was born in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Retired from U.S. Steel after 36 years of service. Veteran of World War II U.S. Army Air Force, served in North Africa, India and Burma. Charter Member American Legion Post 1080, life member of the Cantigny Post VFW #367, St. Joseph Holy Name Society, St. Francis KSKJ #29, Ohio A.C., Old Timer's Baseball Association.
From where services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 9:30 AM to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. St. Joseph Holy Name will meet at 4:30 PM.
