Edward Joseph Metesh, age 82, born January 8, 1936, at rest on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Edward is survived by his siblings, Bernice Metesh, James Metesh and Marian (the late Chet) Dombrowski of Madison, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins located here, Canada and Slovenia.
Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine (nee Nemanich) Metesh; siblings, Frances (Joseph) Plisich, Robert Metesh, Peter Jr. Metesh; and two sisters in infancy, Margaret and Marie Metesh.
Ed was born and raised in Joliet, IL and was a proud United States Army veteran. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Ed graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Township High School. He was a member of Senior Parishioners, KSKJ and Tuesday Euchre Club. He is a retiree of the Joliet Post Office and on one occasion saved a man’s life who he found frozen in the snow. In his earlier years, he caught some of the top fast-pitch softball pitchers in the area. Ed was an avid skier, former member of the Joliet Ski Club, and earned the Western Silver Buckle at Jackson Hole.
A celebration of Edward’s life will begin on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 8:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
