Edward J. Kanta

Edward J Kanta 83 years Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Survived by one brother Benedict (Monica) Kanta, two sisters Helen Kanta and twin sister Ann Kanta. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Margaret (Pisut) Kanta, three brothers Joseph (Marie), Steve (Florence), and Louis Kanta, four sisters Irene (late John) Dutka Margaret (late William) Meyer, Marie (Late Joseph) Krol, and Emily (late Norman) Russum. Born in Joliet, lifelong resident, U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean conflict. Past member of Knights of Columbus and Joliet Senior Services Association.
Attended SS. Cyril & Methodius Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School. Loved family functions and outings, fishing in Wisconsin and Canada, was a loyal Chicago White Sox fan, lector at St. Ambrose Church for many years, and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1979 after many years of dedicated service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Ambrose Church would be appreciated.
A celebration of his life will begin on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 with prayers at Tezak Funeral Home Chapel 1211 Plainfield Rd Joliet at 9:20 AM and driving in procession to St. Ambrose Church in Crest Hill for 10:00 AM mass of Christian burial. Internment to follow at SS. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home from 3-7 PM.
