Dr. Gregory “Doc” Jackson passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the age of 75.
A lifelong sports fan, he played high school basketball for The Central Bears of South Bend, Indiana in his hometown. He graduated from the University of Indiana optometry program before proudly serving in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain. After working for IPCO Optical for several years, he founded “Everything in Sight” in Joliet, his own successful optometry practice until 2015. Having an unwavering work ethic, he spent his last years working for Visionworks as an optometrist. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending Chicago sporting events and working on various household projects. Doc will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Bland and Rosa Jackson; sister: Blandette Busch, and his auntie: Lucy Hiatt.
Doc is survived by his beloved wife: Karen Jackson; son: Anthony (Brianne) Jackson, and step-children: Jennie (Mark) Villegas and Justin (Brandi) Lee; step-grandchildren: Savannah and Violet Villegas; one brother: Michael Jackson, and several nieces and nephews.
Per Doc’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service celebrating his life beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gift’s in Doc’s memory to the Cancer Research Institute.
