Douglas J. Giaudrone Sr

Douglas J. Giaudrone Sr., age 75, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nora (nee McGary); loving son, Douglas J. Giaudrone Jr. and daughter-in-law, Leslie Giaudrone (nee Galicia) and loving son, Dwayne (Kathy) Giaudrone; cherished grandchildren, Andrew R. (deceased), Adam, Eric, Michael, Matthew, and Megan; dear sister, Geri (the late Earl) Mack; dear brother, Peter (the late Donna) Giaudrone Jr.; two loving brothers-in- law, Earl Jr. "Muggs" and Don McGary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Marie (nee Wendell) Giaudrone; and cherished grandson, Andrew R. Giaudrone.

Doug graduated from Coal City High School in the Class of 1957. He recently celebrated his 50 year anniversary as a member with Laborers Union Local 75. He was superintendent of Public Works for the city of Crest Hill. Doug was also a member of the Chaney Monge school board. As a student and young man Doug loved to play baseball and basketball. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. His hobbies included tending to his yard, visiting his neighbors, traveling with his friends Thelma and Jim, and simple things like watching the rain fall. More important than any other part of his life were his cherished grandchildren. He attended all of their sporting events. Doug will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

A Celebration of Doug's life will begin on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435, then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill. A military service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to leaving for mass.
