Dorothy B. (nee Horvat) Lakotich, age 96, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center with her loving family by her side.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Jo Ann Peters and Richard Lakotic; grandchildren, Kevin (Cinthia Gambino) Peters and Jolene (Doug) O’Bryan; great-grandchildren, Jereme (Natalie) Leahy and Samantha Leahy; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Blake Leahy; siblings, Dolores (the late Leonard) Suhadolc, Robert (Jo Ann) Horvat, Ray (Gladys) Horvat and Mary Ann(Joseph) Pluth; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lakotich; parents Joseph and Mary (nee Kobe) Horvat; numerous siblings; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Lakotich.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. She was the matriarch that held her family together and loved them with all her heart. Dorothy was an active member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of the Moose. She had a spunky personality and loved a good debate. Dorothy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching sports. Everyone knew who Dorothy was and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A celebration of Dorothy B. Lakotich’s life will begin on Thursday, November 16, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL) from 9:00a.m. until time of prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill, IL.
