Age 97, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
Preceded in death by her husband, Armando “Tony” Govoni (1993); parents, Joseph and Ursula (nee Obstetar) Ogulin; two brothers, Joseph and Bernard Ogulin; 5 sisters, Sr. Carmelita O.S.F., Louise, Bernice, Helen M., and Dolores Ogulin.
Dorothy is survived by her good friends, Fr. Jim Lennon and Mary and Joe Babich; caregivers, Nena and Nannette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dorothy was born in Joliet on June 10, 1919 and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and Providence Catholic High School. She retired from Standard Oil Co. after 12 years of service. Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet, St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, Willow Falls Rosary Group, K.S.K.J., St. Genevieve Lodge # 108, past president, secretary, treasurer of Cantigny Post Ladies Aux #367, and was the cashier at the Friday Fish fries for many years. She was also a member of St. Patrick’s 55 Club and Our Lady of Angels Auxiliary. Dorothy was a devoted Cubs fan and was so grateful to be able to see them win the World Series. She cared for so many people during her life and especially dear to her heart was Fr. Jim Lennon who was like the “son she never had.”
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432 or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin on Thursday, December 29, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet, Fr. Jim Lennon officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville (Chapel). There will be no services held at the funeral home.
