Dorothy J. (O'Neil) Cerven

Dorothy J. Cerven, age 87, of Joliet, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving husband and family at Alden Courts of Shorewood.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ben Cerven; four children, Ben (Rheba) Cerven, Jim (Linda) Cerven, Dee (John) Corcoran, and Diann (Dave) Verlare; 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; son Richard (Susan) Cerven; son-in-law, Joseph Pangrazio; brother, Al O’Neil; sisters, Bernadette Hucul and Martha Scritchlow.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and card games, Poker and Pinochle.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the caregivers and staff at Alden Court for their love and support as well as Joliet Area Community Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin on Friday, December 22, 2017 with relatives and friends gathering at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at SS Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
