Donna M. Markelz

Donna M. Markelz (nee Sallese), Age 86, entered eternal life on Monday, May 12, 2014 with her loving family by her side.

Donna is survived by her loving children, Donald "Butch"(Donna) Markelz, Denise (Anthony) Olszta, and Kelly Markelz; cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Jose) Jaramillo, Matthew (Vanessa), Christopher, and Michelle Markelz, Anthony (Joanna), Donald (Kathy), and Luke (Beth) Olszta, Elizabeth (Luke) Khouri, and Dominic Olszta; dear great-grandchildren, Sophia, Gianna, Sarah, and Lucia Jaramillo, Addison and Aiden Markelz, Anthony and Adelyn Olszta, Presley Olszta, and one soon-to-be great-grandchild due in October; step-grandchildren, Mandy and Toni Fuentes; step great-grandchildren, Avery Fuentes and Zechariah Mol; one brother, Joseph (Ann Marie) Sallese; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Butch" Markelz; parents, Michael and Bianca (nee De Angeles) Sallese; brothers, Angelo (Rita), Antonio (Rosemary), and Antonio Sallese in infancy; sister, Raffaella (Thomas) Hamilton; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Markelz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William (Betty) Markelz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John (Marie) Markelz.

Donna retired from St. Joseph Hospital where she worked as a nurse for 30 years. After retirement she worked at Salon Downtown and Lockport Township High School. Donna enjoyed golfing and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. Donna will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to all of Donna's family and friends for their care and support as well as to The Joliet Area Community Hospice staff especially, Kathy H., Michelle D., and Dee G. A special thank you to Danute for her compassion and loving care for over two years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna's name to The Joliet Area Community Hospice or Trinity Services.

A Celebration of Donna's life will begin on Thursday, May 15, 2014 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Joliet. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
