Donald E. Vranich

Donald E. Vranich, age 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, September 12, 2016.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Pat (nee Bolte); loving children, Donald and Laura Vranich; dear nieces and nephews, Ronald, Jr., Brian, Susan, and Julie; special niece, Patti; brother-in-law, Ronald (Judith) Bolte.

Preceded in death by his parents, Florian and Anna (nee Kozar) Vranich; numerous brothers and sisters; nephews, Raymond and Jeff Bolte; and brother-in-law, William Bolte, Jr.

Don was a proud United States Army Veteran. He worked at the steel mill in Joliet for over 40 years. He was past president of the Slovenian Home in Joliet. Don enjoyed a good game of euchre and poker during holiday gatherings. He was also an avid golfer. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his cat, “Angel.”

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice, especially Margie and Sue for the excellent care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s name, to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Will County Humane Society, would be greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Donald’s life will begin on Saturday, September 17, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. There will be no services held at the funeral home. Per Donald’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
