Donald L. Seeman, age 81, passed away at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Monday October 6, 2014 with his loving family at his side.
Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ellen A. Seeman (nee Birsa); daughter, Debbie (Dr. Vic) Ramos of California; sons, Michael (Nancy Barnes), Dan (Teresa Huddlestun), and Don (Denise Heard) of Joliet; 13 grandchildren, Brooke (Brandon) Busch, Brad Burzynski, Joe (Natasha), Sam Ramos, Allison (Brian) Griffith, Sarah (Jason) Midlock, Eric (Stephanie), Brandon (Jaime), Elizabeth and Alex Seeman, Nicholas (Melissa), Nathan and Cameron Seeman; 13 great-grandchildren, Leah, Blake, Aniston, Allie, Nora, Gavin, Connor, Paige, Adyson, Teegan, Chloe, Lena, Jackson and adoptive, Lorena & Gabriel Carreno; sisters, Dolores (Raymond) Bertino and Sharon (the late Jim) Harrier; sisters-in-law, Marianne (the late Pete) Vukosovich and Dorothy (Alex) Tomasino; brothers-in-law, Jack (Mary Jane) Birsa and Andy (Barb) Birsa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends; childhood and lifelong friends, Jim (Sally Conley) Clementi, John (Norma) Colognesi, Dixie Shrum and Alice Scheffler.
Preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Minnie (nee Jiacoletti); sister, JoAnn Soave; beloved grandson, Brian Burzynski; great-grandson, Devon Busch; and In-laws, Edward and Alice (nee Smith) Birsa.
Born October 22, 1932 in Joliet, IL, Don was a butcher for 36 years at Swift & Co. and Honiotes Bros. until 1985 and a laborer for Local 75 until he retired, He was a member of the 1948 Joliet Township state wrestling team. Don graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in the Class of 1950. He was a member of Senior Club, Moose Lodge #300, Elks Lodge #296, and Monday euchre night. He volunteered many hours at Day Break Shelter. He was especially an avid fan of anything his grand and great-grandchildren were involved in. Don was past coach of St. Joe's baseball and St. Pat's basketball. He was a loyal member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and 55 Club. He was known to many as Papa Don.

A celebration of Donald's life will begin on Friday, October 10, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL 60435.
