Donald “Soupy” Andrews of New Lenox, IL passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the age of 88.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years; Janice Spillie , children; Donald (Minette) of Shorewood, IL, David (Jamie) of Joliet, IL. and Tony (Jennifer) Andrews of New Lenox, IL. Also surviving is his brother; Jack (Linda) Andrews of Panama City, FL., sister-in-law; Judy Egbert of Frankfort, IL. brother-in-law Anthony (Donna) Spillie of Shorewood, IL. and two grandsons; Ryan and Brandon Andrews, step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as his four-legged friend Brindy.
Preceded in death by his parents; Ardell and Mary Andrews, in laws; Anthony and Helen Spilie, sibilings; Barbara, Myrtle, Becky, Ardell Jr., Gordie, Mel, Chuckie, Perry and his brother-in-law Les “Doc”.
Donald’s greatest joy in life was his wife and children and family as well as fishing and cookouts. An alumni of Farragut grade school and Joliet Catholic he loved all Chicago sports teams and especially Joliet Catholic football. A 33-year retired member of Labor Local #75 Donald was also a member and past president of the Old Timers Baseball Association. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The family invites relatives and friends to join them at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St, Joliet on Thursday, December 16, 2021 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Joliet, IL. with military honors.
