Age 91, at rest on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his wife by his side.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Stella (nee Smyder) who loved him for 53 years of marriage. He is the cherished father and grandfather of Debra (Marc) Ragusa and their daughter Lauren; Beverly (Wayne) Landrey and their children, Wayne (Tammy) and their children, Carlee Peterson, Chad and Bradley McCauley and Taylor; JoAnn (Jim) Vietoris, Mark (Sam Welch) and their, children Holly, Sophie and Max; Michelle Houseman and her daughters, Kyra and Tori; Lynnette (Chuck) Walls and their daughters, Alyssa and Kaitlyn; Sandra (John) Pellegrini and their children, Nancy (Mark) Kuhajda; Larry (Tracy) and their children, Carrigan, Gabrielle, Grant; Joseph (Jennifer) and their children, Charlotte and Leo; Judy (Bob) Blaskie; and Tiffany Sebuliba. Also survived by nephew, Tom (Chrystal) Ronchetti; son, Tom Jr.; numerous nephews and nieces and very dear friends, Don and Norma Ahlberg.

Predeceased by his parents, George Henry and Linda (Kropp) Anderson; sister, Phyllis (George) Ronchetti; and nephew, Richard Ronchetti.

Donald was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He graduated from JTHS in 1935 and was a graduate of JJC. Donald served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp and was commissioned at Yale. He served overseas in Germany and Italy.

Donald retired from Allstate Insurance Co. as an agent after 37 years in 1985. He owned Holiday Motel in Wisconsin Dells with his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy & Jack Pellegrini, Town and Country Coiffures with his wife from 1975 to 1978 and Glass House Antiques.

He was involved with the inception of the Joliet Pony Baseball League in 1952. Donald was an avid fisherman and a diehard Cubs fan. He spent many happy years fishing at his summer home on Lake Christie in Michigan.

Donald was baptized and confirmed at Fist Lutheran Church in Joliet and is a current member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

A Chapel Service will be held at the Funeral Home on

Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Pastor William T. Mitschke officiating.

Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 PM.
