Dolores “Dorie” Tibble (nee Tichy)

Age 88, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023.

Born January 14, 1935 in Joliet, Illinois to the late John and Pauline (Kovalcik) Tichy.

Survived by her beloved daughters: Jodie (Allan) Bertucci and Michelle DeLara (Bob Gilson); grandchildren: Michael (Rebecca) Tibble, Kaitlyn DeLara (Stephen Budz) and Nikolas Bertucci; great-grandchildren: Laileana DeLara, Maximus and Lucas Tibble and Jaxon Butz. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law: Vivian Tichy, Barb Tibble, Sandra Tibble and Sandra Wisneski. Dolores is also survived by her God-children: David (Lynn) Siefert, Dana (Dennis) Butt and Cindy Wisneski, and life-long friends: Marianne Horvath, Edith and Wayne Pickens and Josefina Johnson. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews along with cherished cousins and friends.

Dorie was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Tibble who passed away in 2009; brother: John Tichy; in-laws: Robert Tibble, Alvin Tibble, Marlene Franzen and nephew Steven Tichy.

Dolores attended St. Cyril and Methodius Grade School and Joliet Central High School. Dolores was a member of the C.C.W. at St. Patrick’s Church in Joliet. After retirement, Tom and Dolores moved to Farmington, NM in 1994. Dolores was a member of the Altar Society and was very involved in volunteering for 25 years with her church, St. Mary’s of Farmington. Dolores considered her church family to be among her very special friends. Dolores’ hobbies included oil painting, wood-carving, flower arranging and cake decorating. Dolores had a warm heart and helped anyone who was in need. She would give of her time and energy to assist her family, friends and fellow parishioners. Dolores’ true passion was spending quality time with her family and enjoying the special moments in life surrounded by their love. Dolores taught her children to always appreciate and respect how blessed they were to be surrounded by love, family and friends. Dolores believed that you always put others’ needs first and if you were in the position to help anyone in life, that’s what you are here to do.

Per Dolores’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2212 McDonough Street in Joliet. Interment will follow and Dorie will be laid to rest with her husband at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Dorie’s memory to either St. Mary’s Church in Farmington, 2100 E 20th Street, New Mexico 87401 or Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
