Diane M. Markley (nee Gentili)

Age 83 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Lightways Hospice Care with her family by her side.

Born April 24, 1940 in New York, New York, Diane was a daughter of the late Caesar and Margaret (Cawley) Gentili. Diane was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plainfield. Diane was an avid traveler and loved to travel with her family and friends, especially her sister-in-law, Trudy Surges. She had a competitive spirit and no matter the game or the age of her opponent, she showed no mercy when playing. Diane’s most treasured times were with her kids and grandkids who she loved dearly. She also loved to entertain her friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Diane is survived by her children: Kevin (Deana) Markley, Margaret (Steve) Hammer and Kelly (John) Kemp; grandchildren: John Kemp, Ryan Hammer, Bridget Kemp and Kylie Hammer; brother Gene (Kathy) Gentili, as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Michael Markley; sisters: Pat Gentili, Judy Herlihy, Serina Gallery, and brother: Bob Czubay.

Per Diane’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial which will being at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle Drive in Crest Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Diane’s memory to Lightways Hospice Care.
