Diane Elizabeth (Leonard) Cockburn

Diane Elizabeth Cockburn (nee Leonard), age 53, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Diane is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Marty Cockburn; children, Caitlin (Chad) Davenport, Matt Cockburn, Jason, Nicole, and Patrick; grandchildren, Shay, Karina, Anna and Cessily; sisters, Janine (Ken) Griffin, Connie (Dave) Goulding, Candice (Robert) Skedel and Laurie (Chuck) Ambrose; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; granddogs, Lola and Cooper.

Preceded in death by her parents, Brendan and Joyce (nee Bland) Leonard.

Diane loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. Diane also enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was raised in Lemont, IL and graduated from Lockport High School. Diane was employed at GAF Corporation for over 20 years. She was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed. Although Diane was battling cancer for the past year, she kept her spirits high and never showed weakness, living each day to the fullest.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Seasons Hospice for the wonderful comfort and care provided to Diane.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane's name to Morning Star Mission or the hospice organization of your choice would be appreciated.

A celebration of Diane's life will begin on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet with a memorial visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A service will be held following the visitation at 12:30 p.m., Certified Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Per Diane's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
