Dennis James Doty
Age 57 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in the comfort of his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 15, 1964 in Chicago, Dennis was a son of Billy and Mildred (nee’ Kohout) Doty. He was raised in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Joliet West High School with the class of 1982. Following graduation, Dennis went on to proudly serve in the United States Army earning rank of E4. After his time in the service, Dennis was a mechanic and welder and later became a member of Local Union #702 and worked as a line specialist at the Dial Soap manufacturing facility for over 22 years. Many people referred to him as the “soap man” due to him always smelling like a fresh bar of soap. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed building and racing his R.C. Trucks known as Crawlers, but above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his beloved dog Sampson. Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife: GeNee (nee’ Empy) Doty; three daughters: Heather Doty, Elizabeth (Matt) Wojdyla-Schuck and Ambris (Ryan) Thomas; grandson: Stasiu Wojdyla; mother of his children: Cynthia Doty (nee’ Stanish); step-daughter: Brittany Ohlsson; step-sons: Darrel J. Ohlsson and Bret Ohlsson; eleven step-grandchildren; three brothers: Paul (Laurie) Doty, Jimmy (Linda) Doty and John Doty, and one nephew, three nieces and Goddaughter: Emily Doty
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents: Milly and Billy Doty; dear uncle: Al Kohout, along with numerous aunts and uncles, and his Godmother: Beverly Stanish.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
A celebration of Dennis’s life will continue on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Full military honors will be rendered and a committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Guests wishing to attend are asked to please gather at the cemetery welcome center by 10:15 a.m.
