Delores Mae (Sis) Michalak, (nee Weese), age 92, passed away at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center on Monday, January 15, 2018.
Delores is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Stephen Michalak; and her three sons Ronald (Bonnie), Denny (Carol), and David (Kathy) Michalak. Delores, affectionally known as “Grammy” to her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, is additionally survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Martha Weese (Meyers) and her brothers Leo (Rose) and Donald Weese.
As a young girl Delores worked at the Navy Yards, where she met her husband, Stephen. When her sons arrived, she dedicated herself to homemaking. In later years, she worked at Grate Sign Company.
Delores was a member of the Crest Hill Homemakers and also the Senior Citizens Association. Delores always enjoyed sewing and one of her highlights was sewing the dance costumes for her nieces’ dance recitals. Later, she used her talents creating hair bows for her granddaughter Brittany’s lovely blonde hair.
Delores, or “Grammy”, who loved working on jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles; and was famous for her wonderful homemade cakes; will be deeply missed by all of her family members, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Delores’s life will begin on Thursday, January 25, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
