David E. “Dago” Vallera, age 68, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
Born February 8, 1949, in Joliet, IL. He attended Joliet Catholic High School and Lewis University. He currently owns Malnar’s Tap with his wife Sandra since July of 2000.
David is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra J. (nee Hammer) Vallera; daughter, Christine (Donnie) Simmons; sons, Mark (Jacque), Michael (Trisha) and Matthew (Heather) Vallera; mother, Frieda (nee Sarcletti) Vallera; brother, James (JoAnn) Vallera; and sister, Jeanne (John) Keach; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his father; Americo “Val” Vallera.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to help with expenses would be greatly appreciated.
A celebration of David’s life will begin on Monday, October 30, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet, IL from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
