David Michael Derlinga “The Devil,” age 53 passed away suddenly on Monday, February 19, 2018.
David is survived by his loving children, Becky, Kacey (Christianna), Danielle Derlinga, Patrick Butts and Shannon Davis; grandchildren, Michael, Ellie Jude and Christian Derlinga; brother, Louie Derlinga; sister, Terri Derlinga; uncle, Butch (Sharon) Gersich; aunt, Louise Gersich; numerous cousins, dear friends that became family, Brothas from anotha Motha and all the Stellas.
Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Judith (nee Gersich) Derlinga; and uncle, Joseph Gersich.
David was a lifetime member of the Laborers Local #75. He was a proud Green Beret in the United States Army. David was a member of the Croatian Cultural Club and KSKJ St. Francis #29.
He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his grandbabies.
Per Devil’s wishes, please wear inappropriate funny t-shirts or your best camo to Sunday’s visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.
A celebration of David’s life will begin on Monday, March 5, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:45 a.m. then driving in procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood where full military honor will be rendered. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 p.m. to conclude the visitation.
