David R. Kurtz
Age 73 of Joliet, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
Born July 25, 1948 in Joliet, David was a son of Leo and Dorothy (Burgard) Kurtz. He was raised and educated in the Joliet area and graduated from Lincoln-Way High School with the class of 1966. Following graduation, David enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the conflict in Vietnam. He earned the rank of Corporal and was stationed at Marble Mountain Air Facility located just outside DeNang, Vietnam. In 1985, David married the love of his life, Diane Kokosz on the Peace River in Florida, and the rest is history. He was the owner/operator of “Kurtz Enterprise” which specialized in custom cabinetry design. David was a jack-of-all-trades who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed golf and fishing trips with his friends. He was an avid cook and looked forward to sharing meals with friends and family. David will be remembered for his inventive mind, love of music and of course, being a founding member of the “Corner of Knowledge” at Double J Sports Bar.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Diane; son: Michael Kurtz (Joelle), and brothers: Kenneth (Karen) Kurtz and Larry Kurtz.
David is preceded in death by his parents: Leo and Dorothy, and brother: Chuck Kurtz.
Per David’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
