Darcey V. Molyneux

August 23, 1928 — July 30, 2022

Darcey V. Molyneux

Age 93 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

Born August 23, 1928 in Barnes City, Iowa, Darcey was the son of Thomas and Ethel (Strong) Molyneux. He was raised and educated in Barnes City and graduated from Barnes City High School with the class of 1946. Following graduation, Darcey enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the service he had served two terms. One during World War II and for the second he was drafted back in and served during the Korean War. While in the Marines, he had the opportunity to drive a tank in a scene for a John Wayne movie.

Darcey retired after thirty years in 1985 from Caterpillar Tractor Company in the central distribution center for mechanics department. While at Caterpillar, Darcey met the love of his life Ms. Terry (Baran) Hart. They were happily married shortly thereafter, and Darcey was happy to take on the responsibility of helping raise Terry’s six daughters who would become his own daughters. After retiring, it was not in Darcey’s nature to just sit and relax so he started his own recycling business. He operated his own recycling business dealing with Grants, Barton Carrolls and several others. He was really a “jack-of-all-trades” and could fix just about anything and would always say yes to help anyone that needed assistance. Darcey was a kind and gentle soul to anyone and everyone he met.

He loved to travel with Terry and always looked forward to spending time at their summer home in Cassville, Wisconsin. He loved to entertain his grandchildren with tractor rides in Wisconsin. In their free time, Darcey and Terry also enjoyed going mushroom and asparagus hunting, metal detecting, going to garage sales and volunteering their time with the Will County Historical Society. Darcey will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Darcey is survived by his five daughters: Gail (the late Denny) Kaiser, Diane (Gordy) Crowther, Joni (Tony) Pena, Rose McNamee and Janet (the late Rusty) Stworzyjanek, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; nephews: Ronald (Gayle) Barthelman, Kenneth (Joni) Barthelman, Randy (June) Barthelman; niece: Melissa (Robert) Horvat; three great-nephews, one great niece; cousins: Bernard Molyneux, Dwayne Accord.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: Theresa L. Molyneux; father: Thomas Irwin Molyneux; mother: Ethel Izola (Strong); daughter: Patsy (Ron) Iverson; sister: Pauline Barthelman; a sister in infancy; stepsister: Anna May Kirby; grandson: Tyrone Hart; sister-in-laws: Wanda Baran, Josephine (Raymond) Popek; brother-in-laws: Edwin Baran and Walter Baran.
