Daniel Paul Tucci

Age 61 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Born April 14, 1962 in Joliet, He was a son of Samuel, Jr. and Shirley (Baker) Tucci. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township Central High School with the class of 1981. Following a life-threatening accident while in High School, Dan bravely endured many challenges throughout his life. He met them all with a smile and a great sense of humor.

Dan was a friend to all and carried a zest for life. He was a loving son and brother whose greatest joys were spending time with his family. He loved a great road trip, especially if the trip included going fishing. While at home, Dan took great pride in tending to his vegetable garden and making sure his bird feeders remained full. His competitive nature would always be on display during a good card game and most recently Yahtzee dice games.

He was affectionately known as “Tuss” or “Joe”, and loved to help out in any way that he could. Dan worked alongside his brother Mark with Eagle Construction for many years. In recent years, he was the “sidewalk superintendent” and could be found critiquing the road construction and new building along the Rt. 30 corridor near his home. Dan was known to generously gift donuts to the construction crews near his home. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who knew him.

Dan is survived by his mother: Shirley; four brothers: Samuel (Jackie) Tucci, John (Joanne) Tucci, Mark Tucci, and Greg (Mary Ann) Tucci; three sisters: Pamela (James) Allocco, Mary Kay (Evan) Dale and Dawn Tucci, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father: Samuel Tucci, Jr., and grandparents: Samuel, Sr. and Justine Tucci, and Henry and Ora Baker.

Per Dan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

A private interment will be held at a later date and Dan will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Romeoville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Dan’s memory to Lightways Hospice Care in Joliet.
