Daniel M. Potochnic, Sr., age 76, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Patricia Potochnic (nee Hargrave); loving sons, Daniel and Joseph Potochnic; cherished grandchildren, Morgan and Ryan Potochnic; dear sisters, Lillian (the late Henry) Adamic and Diane (Ken) Derickson; dear brothers, John, William (the late Naomi), James (the late La Vonne), and Richard Potochnic; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna (nee Kuzmijak) Potochnic; first wife, Barbara (nee Failing); sister, Albina Mengo; brother, Robert Potochnic.
Daniel was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Lockport High School. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He was a longtime parishioner and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. He was employed at United States Steel and Diageo Bottling Company for many years. Daniel was also a member of KSKJ St. Francis Lodge #29 and American Legion Post #1080.
A Celebration of Daniel’s life will begin on Thursday, June 2, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet. American Legion Post #1080 memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
