""Da"" (nee Jovanovich)
87 years old, passed away on April 1, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ where she resided for the past ten years. She was born in Joliet and worked in the family business, The Serbian Food & Liquor Store and was later employed with the City of Joliet and the City of Joliet Police Dept. retiring in 1987. She was a lifelong member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, the Circle of Serbian Sisters, the Mita Topalovich Choir which she served as director for many years, the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Bethany Shrine #7, Veteran"s American Legion Auxiliary Post 0468.
Danica was preceded in death by her husband Orville (Ozzie) Belfield; parents George and Mary (nee Padley) Jovanovich; brothers Alexander and Dan (Eva) Jovanovich.
Danica was the loving mother of Jean (Chuck) Panella and Janet (Dennis Belter) Belfield; dearest grandmother Andrea, Jovana and Tiana Popovich; sister to Richard (late Julia), George (Joan), Radovan (Darlene) Jovanovich; Teti to numerous nieces and nephews; and thankful to her beloved friend, Hester Hrechko. Memorials to be used according to the family"s wishes for the charities of their choice would be appreciated.
Danica Belfield will lie in state on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at 9:30 AM with funeral services following at 10 AM. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, April 10, 2009 at the funeral home from 2 to 8 PM with a Pomen service at 7 PM.
