“Dan”
Age 76 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Salem Village Nursing Home in Joliet.
Born November 27, 1946 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Dan was a son of Layman and Eva (Lindsey) York. He was born in the Bowling Green area and grew up in Charlestown, IN. When he was 9 years old his family moved to Chicago and settled for the majority of his life and met the love of his life and raised his family. Dan was quick to make an opportunity of learning how to drive a big rig into a lifelong career as an over the road truck driver. His passion was working on his cars and restoring antique cars. Dan loved a good challenge and would always find a way to make it work. His greatest joy was his family. Dan loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Debra (TJ) Boulden, Denise (Allan) Gilbert, Cathy (Chip) Dovidio, Darren (Karen) York and Danny (Christine) York; grandchildren: Monica, Joshua, Daniel, Zach, Jennifer, Sydney, Eden, Ashley, Jacob, Emily, Danny III, Andrew, Julia, Lauren, Ayanna and Brady; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Dominic, Braxton, Sadie, Annie, Michael and Liam, siblings: Linda (James) Weston, Michael (Margie) York and lifelong friend: Sharon (Hanes) York, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents: Layman and Eva; brothers: Duncan, Gerald and Percy York, and sister-in-law: Margie York.
Per Dan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
