Age 89, passed away peacefully Monday September 20, 2010 at his home. Born April 21, 1921 in Carthage, AK.. Former mayor of Elwood for 28 years, U.S Army WWII veteran, dedicated member of the Will County Republican Party, retired member of Iron Workers Union #444, member of Masonic Lodge #919 for 52 years, life member of Valley of Bloomington and member of Elwood Community Church. Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Frances (nee King) Archer, loving father of Mary Matichak and Linda Lande, dearest grandfather of Sandra Churchwell, Todd (Carin) Matichak, Brian (Jeana) Matichak and Brad Lande, great grandchildren Cory Dale and Stefanie Churchwell, Ethan, Zoey and Maysen Matichak and Alexa Matichak, sister-in-law Janice (late James) Archer also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents C. L. and Annie (nee Carter) Archer, three brothers Jewell, Carter and James Archer and one sister Bonnie Lusk. Dale was dedicated to his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren"s sporting events. Special thank you to Dale"s care givers at Rosewood Care Center and Joliet Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

The family of Dale Archer invite family and friends to join them in celebrating Dale"s life with a visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 to 8PM. A Masonic service will be held at 7PM. Private family interment services will be held Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
