God took Daeyonne into his hands and raised her up on Sunday February 14th, 2021 with peaceful dignity and admiration of a life well lived and well loved. She fought a valiant and at times remarkable battle against a cancer that would have fallen healthier people much quicker. She did so with honesty in her heart and courage in her resolve to defeat it. Daeyonne brought a smile to the faces and touched the lives of all who knew her. Hers was a noble pursuit of a life to be lived to the fullest, vanquishing expectations along the way to grab the very essence of life itself and hang onto it as long as she could. To enjoy and sew the tapestry of her Native American roots and a deep understanding of the bounty she enjoyed as someone who became one with the essence of God’s natural creation and all who inhabited it.
After graduating from high school Daeyonne immediately began a career in high end retail and fashion. She loved managing and working with people that became not only employees but also members of her extended family. She made this her life’s work. Continuing to add to the tapestry of her ability to love, she, from youth, fell in love with all things outdoors; kayaking, hiking, biking, exploring, walks, beaches, swimming, and sometimes holding hands with nature. She had a special fondness for her dog Butch “Bubbawubbawigglebutt” and her kitty cat “Lucy FUR” who she saved from a shelter. That was the kind of person she was. Always caring and ALWAYS looking out for her family no matter who they were or what they were going through.
In Joliet she gave birth to the love of her life, her only child, Taylor Perry of whom she was especially proud. Taylor will never forget the lessons her mother taught her. Daeyonne was the best "Auntie Onie" to her three nieces, her love hearts, Emelyn Jean, Ella and Evie, who will miss her tremendously and forever have a guardian angel on their shoulder. Her true love, Tony DeMichael of whom she had met and grew in love with for the last 18 months of her life, will miss their many adventures together. It was a love cut too short too quick but one that burned with intensity, a love that was deep and caring and soul to soul. He and his loving family who had taken up Daeyonne as one of their own will never forget her. They were there with her to the end.
To you Daeyonne “sometimes I go about and feel pity for myself, and all the while a great wind carries me across the sky” Ojibwa.
Private services will be held for family and close friends to Daeyonne and she will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
