Cynthia L. Johnson, lifelong resident of Joliet age 76, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home while surrounded by family on March 29, 2025. Cynthia was born to William and Julia (nee Soos) Mann in Joliet on November 6, 1948.
Cynthia lived her life in Joliet and raised her three children in Joliet. She was a wonderful mother who was always willing to do everything necessary to provide for family, friends, and really anyone that reached out needing some assistance. She spent the bulk of her professional career at Joliet Pattern, and finished her career working at the Joliet Walmart before reaching her well-earned retirement. Regardless of where or when she was working, one thing that was certain was that she was working hard. It was always in her nature to put forth maximum effort until the job was complete. She brought that same mindset to motherhood, always willing to support her children in pursuit of their goals. Of course, that enviable quality grew even stronger regarding her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lover of animals, caring for many dogs throughout her life, and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her free time as her mother did before her. Cynthia was widely known to take great care of her home, working diligently in her garden and maintaining her landscaping with an ever-watchful eye for the smallest of details. Cynthia was never one to seek out the spotlight in life, but that doesn’t mean that she wasn’t deserving of that spotlight. Her family will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father William and Julia, her daughter Tracy Johnson in infancy, her brother Edward Mann, and her sister Nancy Daniel.
Cynthia is survived by her children Julie Vergel, Kristine (Keith) Borgra, and Kenneth Johnson Jr.; her grandchildren Jonathan (Ana) Vergel, Christopher Vergel, Kayla Borgra, and Nicholas (Jenna) Borgra; her great grandchildren Aleida Vergel and Elena Borgra; as well as her sister Gloria Napoli. Thank you to her caretaker Nava and the hospice team for providing care and support.
In lieu of flowers, any donations made to Lightways Hospice in Cynthia’s name would be appreciated.
