Cydney Armani Maiden was born on April 12, 2002, in Joliet, Illinois to Carlos Sr. and Karla (McKennie) Maiden. Cydney made her transition from this life to go home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023, peacefully at her home.
Cydney was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy at 2 months old and received her new heart at 6 months old. Later, during Cydney’s childhood, she was diagnosed with Autism. But that didn’t stop Cydney from thriving and mastering various electronic devices. For example, Kindle tablets, iPads, Chrome books, Nintendo Switch, TV remotes, and using other family members Netflix and DirectTV accounts to order movies and games using the credit card information on file. Cydney also loved going to Tamy’s Hair Design Studio to get her long hair done. Cydney loved her blue braids.
Cydney attended Joliet Public Schools, Lynn Thigpen and Gompers Jr. High School, and later transferred to Guiding Light Academy in Shorewood, IL.
Cydney was baptized at St. Mark CME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Stephen D. Deloney.
Cydney was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Michael Campbell, paternal grandfather Mamon (Robert) Hollins, maternal great-grandparents Joseph and Barbara Campbell, Clyde and Runni Williams; paternal great-grandparents George and Minnie Curtis; Aunts Antoinette and Tanya Anderson, and Chris Frederick; Uncles Robert Frederick and Marcus Hollins.
Cydney is survived by her King Daddy and Majesty, Carlos Sr. and Karla (McKennie) Maiden; her brother Carlos Maiden, Jr., of Des Moines, IA; sisters Jashona Maiden and Keymari Reed, of Joliet, IL; Sasha Tanzy, of Kankakee, IL; nieces Te’Veah and Te’Mia Ellis; nephews Tevon Maiden, Andrew Kelly Knox Jr., Zy’Aire Tanzy-Phillips; maternal great-grandmother Diana L. McKennie of Sugar Hill, GA; maternal grandparents Isiah Sr (Andy) and Linda Anderson of Joliet, IL; paternal grandmother Minnie (Louise) Maiden of Joliet, IL; aunts and uncles Isiah (Sheley) Anderson Jr. of Federal Way, WA; Kendall (Elroy) Norris of Shorewood, IL; Antwon (Julie) Anderson of Bolingbrook, IL; Taurus Sanders and Corion Anderson of Joliet, IL; Stacy (Ivan) Dockins of Dallas, TX; Dr. Dana Gilion (Ossie) Coleman of Champaign, IL; Lolita Gatson and Annette Alexander, of Joliet, IL; Joanne Morgan of Kenosha, WI; Bobbie Hollins of Hawaii; Christella (Billy) Thomas of Winnsboro, LA; Michael Hammel of Minooka, IL.
Cydney also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Cydney was our miracle baby. She had many health challenges and still was a bright light to ALL who knew her. Cydney was loved by her parents, family, teachers, and friends. Cydney will be greatly missed and her memory will live on in our hearts forever! We love you C!!!
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Cydney’s life will continue on Saturday, February 25, 2023 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark CME Church, 348 S. Joliet Street in Joliet.
