Cody Jay Graves
Age 33 of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Born November 9, 1990 in Chicago, Cody was raised and educated in Carbon Hill, Alabama and graduated from Carbon Hill High School with the class of 2009. Following graduation, Cody moved back to the Joliet area and worked as an Assistant Water Treatment Operator for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District.
Cody lived his life to the fullest and loved endlessly. He would do anything for anyone at any given time.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.
Cody is survived by his mother: Kimberly Kirkland; brother: Bradley Burditt; sister: Breanna Burditt (Tim Wright); maternal grandparents: Jim and Penny Kirkland; uncle: Mark (Karin) Kirkland, and cousins: Brett Kirkland and Megan Kirkland. He is also survived by his brother: Andrew (Amy) Sjostrom and their son: Christopher, as well as his special aunt: Kerry Lyons Studer.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother: Margaret “Nana” Kirkland.
Per Cody’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made as gifts in Cody’s name to an Animal Humane Society of the donors choosing.
