Claude H. Gordan, Jr.

Age 88 and lifelong resident of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet with his family by his side.

Born May 23, 1933 in Joliet, Claude was a son of Claude Gordan, Sr. and Veronica (Rys) Oberts. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Central High School. Claude honorably served his country during the Korean War. He was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet and was employed with E.J.&E. Railroad for 32 years. Claude will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Claude is survived by his loving daughters: Debra (George) Passas, Maryann (Michael) McGuire and Kathie (Dr. David) Pesavento; proud grandfather of: Alex Passas (Andrea), Aimee Dazzo (Chris), Katie Van Gampler (Keith), Christopher McGuire (Haley), Ashley Tiggelaar (Steve), Daniel McGuire (Tiffany), Morgan McGuire (Tyler Bryce), Kevin Pesavento (Tracey), Matthew Pesavento (Penelope); great-grandchildren: Alyssa Passas, Preslee Dazzo, Madison, Keegan, Landyn, and Griffin Van Gampler, Grady McGuire, Owen Tiggelaar, Lorelai, Mirren, Quinn, and baby McGuire due September 2022, Isabella, Peyton and Sofia Pesavento, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and step-brother: Ronald Goodwin.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years: Pauline who passed in 2015; his daughter in infancy: Patricia Ann who passed in 1957; parents: Claude, Sr. and Katherine Gordan and Veronica Oberts, and brother: John J. Gordan.

Per Claude’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A private interment will be held at a later date where Claude and Pauline will be laid to rest together.

The family would like to thank those who cared for Claude while at Senior Star, as well as to the care he received during his final days at Lightways Hospice Care. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. Bhavesh Ghandi for the quality care he provided.
