Clara B. Gumienny
February 11, 1929 — August 22, 2014
Clara B. Gumienny (nee Benco), age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (John) Fitzgerald; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy and Heather Fitzgerald; two great-grandsons, Ethan Tyler Moss and Caleb Edward Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (the late Bernard) Benco and Lorraine Evans; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Gumienny; parents, Peter and Justine (nee Pisut) Benco; sisters, Vilma (Frank) Kovachik, Justine (Andrew) Kijowski, Helen Winblad and Julia (Andrew) Michaels; brothers, Joseph (Margaret), Peter (Mary), John (Sophie), Rudolph, Bernard and Benedict (Alice).
Clara retired from 7up after 20 years of service. She was a member of Monica's Altar and Rosary Society. Clara was an avid Bingo and Bunco player. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the CNA Connie and all of the nurses and staff in the Venetian Wing at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home.
In lieu of flowers donations in Clara's name to Presence Hospice Joliet would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Clara's life will begin on Thursday, August 28, 2014 with a prayer service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3-8 p.m.
