Christopher E. Kobe, age 17, late of Crest Hill, died on January 11. 2011 after losing his courageous 2 year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family at his late residence.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jane (nee DePodesta) and Gerald Kobe, his caring aunts and uncles, Robert (Charlene) Kobe, Carol (Alan) Zobel, Edward (Toni) Kobe, and Judy (James) Seeman, Donna Rae (James) Bloch, Joyce (late Joseph ""Bud"") DePodesta, Madeline (Anthony) Golobitsh, Mary Jo (Dave) Mauzer, and Paul DePodesta, as well as numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Joseph and Frances (nee Naiden) DePodesta, his paternal grandparents, Edward and Anna (nee Vranich) Kobe,and his uncle, Dennis Kobe. Chris will be greatly missed by his ""Aunt"" Frani Hollister and his loving girlfriend, Christine Kielma.
He attended Chaney-Monge Grade School from kindergarten through 8th grade, where he was a member of the band, playing trumpet and also played basketball. At graduation he was the recipient of the ""Give Something Back Scholarship"". Chris looked back at his grade school years with great fondness. He was currently attending his senior year at Lockport Township East High School.
Those wishing to leave a lasting tribute in Chris"s name may make contributions to Joliet Area Community Hospice or University of Chicago Adenocarcinoma Cancer Research, 5841 S. Maryland Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637. His family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Charles Rubin, Vicki Schultz-Gontarz, Comer Children"s Hospital 6th fl. nursing staff and doctors, and Derrick Smith and the nursing staff of Edward Hospital Cancer Center, also Dedria and Laurie from the Joliet Area Community Hospice, and Pam. Private family services, with a Mass of Christian Burial, have taken place. Interment took place at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill.
