Passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice. Born on September 14, 1928 to the late Charles and Pauline (Senffner) Stiglich.

Charles was a Joliet resident his entire life attending St. Mary's Croation Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School and was secretary of his 1946 graduating class.

He was an outstanding high school athlete in baseball, football and basketball.

He attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. on an athletic scholarship until 1948 when he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox. He advanced through the minor leagues to the AAA team.

On October 7,1950 he married Alice Rozich. From 1952 to 1954 he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Commonwealth Edison until he retired after 40 years of service. He coached many youth basketball and baseball teams for St. Joseph's of Joliet.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling with his family and friends and family parties.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (nee Rozich) Stiglic; two daughters, Marilynn (Terry) Juricic and Charlene (Doug) Fumagalli, one son, John (MaryJo), seven grandchildren, Terry (Christina) Juricic, Katie (Dan) Markun, Lauren (Jim) McFarland, John Stiglich II, Drew, Ross and Troy Fumagalli; three great-grandsons, Mathew and Jacob Juricic and Daniel Markun. He is survived by two sisters, Lillian (Joe) Kucharz, Rose (Gene) Pesavento; and one brother, Frank (late Lillian) Stiglich; also his dear friend and caregiver, Zita Prokup.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pauline (Senffner) Stiglich; and one sister Frances (Ron) Zola.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Senior Group, St. Joseph Holy Name Society, Senior Citizens of Joliet, Moran A.C., Joliet Elks Club, Will County Old Timers Baseball Association, American Legion Post 1080, and the Harwood Post #5.

A special thank you to Dr. Bhatt, Dr. Cataldo, Dr. Wright and the staff of the Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph's Building Fund, Joliet Area Community Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.

The family of Charles E. Stiglic Jr. invites relatives and friends to join them in celebrating a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Joliet on Saturday at 11AM, the family will receive relatives and friends at church from 10 AM until time of mass.

St. Joseph Holy Name will meet for prayers at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at

St. Joseph Cemetery.
