Catherine McGary, age 91, a lifetime resident of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Monday, November 17, 2008, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Kate was born on November 20, 1916 to Frank and Mary Mufich. The Mulfich family had nine children.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Batuzich; and brothers, Frank Jr., Edward and Stanley.
She is survived by sisters, Anne (Louis deceased) Zelko and Pauline (Richard deceased) Zielinski; brothers, Fred Mufich and John Mufich; sisters-in-law, Bernie Mufich and Dorothy Mufich.
She married Earl McGary (deceased 1982) and together they made a loving home for her three children who survive her, Nora (Douglas) Giaudrone, Earl (Muggs) McGary Jr., and Donald.
Beloved ""Nina"" to two grandchildren, Douglas (Leslie) Giaudrone and Dwayne (Kathy) Giaudrone; five great-grandsons Andrew, Michael, Adam, Matthew and Eric; and a beautiful great-granddaughter Megan Giaudrone.
She retired from Merichka's Restaurant after 25 years of service.
She was a dedicated member of St. Anne's Parish in Crest Hill. Ever devoted to the Blessed Mother, she prayed the rosary and attended mass daily when her health allowed. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed Friday night Bingo at St. Mary's Natinity.
She was a member of St. Anne's CCW and was awarded ""Woman of the Year"" in 1998, which she often described as one of the proudest moments of her life. She was also a member of the Rivals Senior Club, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, St. Anne's Altar and Rosary Society and the Young Timers.
Kate was a wonderful person who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was generous, strong in faith, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever missed.
Memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice in Catherine's name would be appreciated.
From where services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM to St. Anne Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-7 PM.
