Catherine ""Katie"" Jean Plitt Blackburn, 87, of Joliet, passed away July 17, 2011. Loving mother of Cathy (Dean) Rebuffoni of Minneapolis, MN; Bill (Nancy) of Shorewood; Janet (Peter) Fried of Lisle; Jim (Diane) of Shorewood; Candi (Ted) Ficken of Salem, OR; John (late Cindy) of Joliet; Dennis (Julie) of Joliet; Judy (Roger) Kreig of Morris; Carol (Patrick O"Connor) Blackburn and of Minneapolis, MN; Jeff (Faye) of Tampa, FL; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband William F. Blackburn and parents, Francis and Jeanette Plitt.
Katie met Bill her husband of 62 years while working at the Joliet Herald Newspaper. She had a lifelong love of music. In her early years, she played the organ for several local churches, and entertained friends and family later in life. Upon her husband"s retirement, Katie and William relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL and returned to the Joliet area in 2000.
A Celebration of Catherine"s life will begin at 11 am on Thursday, July 21, 2011 with a service at the funeral home chapel. Interment following at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service at:
