Carolyn B. (Devereaux) Wildey

February 14, 1930 — November 10, 2021

Carolyn Betty Wildey (nee Devereaux), age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her home comforted by her loving family.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Diane (Darryl) Johnson and Janet Salazar; grandchildren, William (Sonja) Koehler Jr., Brett (Arlina) Koehler, Bobbi (Rob) Bettcher, Aaron (Cynthia) Johnson, Kristin Crouse, Christopher (Missy) Salazar, Nichole (Joe) Zebell and Jacob (Shree) Salazar; great-grandchildren, Raven (Danny) Sobolwski, Kyra (David) Gibson, Bree (Kyle) Ladson, Jasemin (Brandon) Rapier, August Lindholm, Brian, Ora, A.J., Aiden and Gabe Johnson, Cailin Keele, Cannon Crouse, Lexi and Elizabeth Salazar, Jaxyn and Oakley Zebell, Elliana and Eli Salazar; great-great-grandchildren, Jayden and Greyson; siblings, Shirley (the late Donald) Dix, Ardis (Robert) Peterson and Alice (the late Jeff) Olson; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ruth Satorius.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Wildey (1970); daughter, Barbara L. (William) Koehler (2017); parents, Richard and Ora Devereaux; brothers, Donald and Sheldon (Peggy) Devereaux; and sister, Donna Jean Devereaux.

Carolyn was a lifetime member (currently the longest) of the Plattville United Methodist Church. She began Sunday school there in 1933 and went on to teach Sunday school, become a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Worship Committee and volunteer for many years for the Annual Ham Supper. In August of 1963, Carolyn became a member of the Kendall County Homemakers Association, Seward Unit. Within this group she was very active, working the pie booth at the Sandwich Fair was one of her many involvements, and in 2014 was awarded the Distinguished Kendall County Association member of the year.

As the matriarch of the family and an incredible caregiver, it goes without saying; Carolyn babysat many of her children and grandchildren throughout the years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carolyn’s name may be made to Plattville United Methodist Church, Plattville Cemetery or Lightways Hospice.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will begin on Saturday, November 13, 2021 with a visitation at Plattville United Methodist Church, 13025 Church Rd, Yorkville, IL 60560 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Plattville Cemetery.
